Highways Issues
Councillor Mrs E Samuelson had circulated a paper to the members with various issues that she would like to be raised and discussed at the meeting.
Newberries Car Park
The barrier had been erected because of a gypsy encampment, which took place in the car park several years ago. The idea of the school transport parking in the car park was thought to take up too much space and could become chaotic during dropping of and picking up times. The resurfacing of the car park had been brought up at a previous meeting and already mentioned under items for noting. It was thought that the potholing in and around the car park area was not bad enough to warrant being redone at the present time.
Aldenham Road
The work on Aldenham Road was due to be done in 2008/09. It was agreed that this matter should be chased up with Highways. It was understood that the road works in this area would be split into two parts. The area nearest to Aldenham School should be done first as a matter of priority.
Councillor D Lambert reported on the parking issue outside of the school, which was mainly due to students parking in the road, as they were not allowed to park in the school grounds.
It was also noted that there was a problem with people parking in the roadway outside Aldenhan Country Park, as the admission fee of £5 was very expensive.
Councillor D Lambert elected to speak to Mr M Jarrett of Highways regarding the issue of parking on the roadway outside Aldenham Country Park.
He would also write to the Headmaster of Aldenham School regarding parking outside the school.
Aldenham Avenue
The pothole on the corner as you turn to go into Loom Lane would be reported. There were two other potholes near the Pathway on Aldenham Avenue that should also be reported.
Radlett Station
There was no news on the extension to platforms.
Councillor D Lambert will talk to First Capital Connect about the lack of disabled facilities.
Bus Routes
The issue of a bus route from Radlett to Stanmore had been mentioned at the recent Joint Councillors meeting. Councillor D Lambert will contact UNO Bus Company.
Slip Road/Service Road
Opening up the slip road in the middle of the service road for vehicles to enter was a matter, which had been discussed many times with Highways. It would not be possible because of various safety issues.
The following issues were reported or noted.
Councillor Mrs Wackrow reported that a parking restrictions post in Craigweil Avenue immediately after the turning into Craigmount had been knocked down and needs to be erected. This would be reported by Mrs R J Floate, Administrative Officer.
It was noted that some drainage work had started in Loom Lane and Cobden Hill.
The disabled bays will be painted in spring.
It was noted that resurfacing work to the top end of Gills Hill had still to be done.
There was a possibility that cat’s eyes would be installed in stretch of road between Butterfly Lane and Allum Lane.
It was noted that the insurance claim for the tree that fell in Aldenham Green was the responsibility of the Parish Council.
The no entry sign had been replaced outside Grant and Glass in Watling Street.
The Highways Department was investigating a new sign at the junction of Harper Lane and Watling Street.
It was agreed to ask Mr Daniel Perks of Highways to attend the next meeting in October.
Councillor Worthy had spoken to Highways regarding the flooding situation in Theobald Street.
The fencing had still not been repaired in Shenley Hill; Mrs R J Floate, Administrative Officer, would chase up this matter.
Councillor Mrs V Charrett asked if enquiries could be made about installing street lighting in the footpath from Theobald Street to Newberries Avenue. Mrs R J Floate would make enquiries.
It was noted that there was no intention of cutting off street lighting at midnight.
It was agreed to bring up the matter of crossovers and loss of grass verges as discussed and brought up by Councillor Mrs V Charrett with Mr D Perks of Highways at the next meeting.
Mrs R J Floate would speak to the planning department at Hertsmere regarding shopkeepers using the pavements as additional commercial trading space.
