ALDENHAM PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the meeting of the NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE held at 8pm on Monday 15 January 2007 in Meeting Room Two, The Radlett Centre, Aldenham Avenue, Radlett, Herts.

  1. Apologies for absence

    Apologies were received from Councillor R Worthy.

  2. Declarations of Interest

    There were no declarations of interest.

  3. Minutes of the meeting held on 12 September 2006 for approval and signature

    The Minutes were approved as a true and correct record.

  4. Matters arising from the Minutes of the meeting held on 12 September 2006

    There were no matters arising.

  5. Feedback from edition 74

    A letter had been received from Mr John Meloy, a member of Aldenham Church, giving further information about the painting ‘Children in Aldenham Church’ by William Henry Hunt and featured in edition 74.

    The Deputy Clerk reported an upsurge in Youth Club inquiries following an advertisement in edition 74. The advert will be repeated in the next edition. It was also reported that a number of residents had called into the office for kitchen caddies, liners and bus passes.

  6. Articles for inclusion in edition 75

    The following items were suggested for possible inclusion in edition 75:-
    1. Space to be saved for an update on the present position with the Carnival 2007 (VC)

  7. Advertisements

    The majority of advertisers featured on the back page had agreed to the increase from £30 to £35 per issue of edition 75.

    A new advertisement had been received from a company offering Yoga.

  8. Format and Colour

    The format would be as before.  The colour swatch was required from Print.

    Service to choose a colour for the front cover.

  9. Complaint to Royal Mail

    A ‘goodwill gesture’ had been offered by Royal Mail by way of £50 for a lost box of 400 copies of Around Radlett.  This amount had been accepted by Finance and General Purposes Committee.

  10. Discussions with Print Services

    Following inquiries made by Print Services over a large increase in the cost of printing edition 74, it had been agreed that an overcharge of £474.20 had occurred and this amount would be credited to Aldenham Parish Council.
    A final print of 4400 copies would be made in the future.

  11. Date of Put Together

    The Put Together would take place on Monday 29 January 2007 at 7.30pm.
