ALDENHAM PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the meeting of the RADLETT FESTIVAL SUB COMMITTEE held at 7.30pm on Thursday 25 May 2006 in Meeting Room 2, The Radlett Centre, Aldenham Avenue, Radlett.

  1. Apologies for absence

    Apologies were received from Vicky Churchill, Caroline Corfield, Ray Gordon, Roger Housechild, Stuart Nagler and Ron Worthy.


  2. Declarations of Interest

    There were no declarations of interest.


  3. Minutes of the meeting held on 11 May 2006

    The Minutes were signed as a true and correct record.


  4. Matters arising from the Minutes of the meeting held on 11 May 2006

    The following points were noted:-

    The ‘Fire Eater’ should read ‘Fire Dancer’.
    The correct spelling of the name of one of the comperes was Simon Tompkins and not Tomkin.
    Aitchinsons Estate Agents boards were being erected on Friday 27 May 2006.
    Viv had distributed all the programmes to all of the distributors.


  5. Saturday Evening ‘Picnic in the Park’

    The following points were noted:-

    • DP Clarke had offered raffle prize of £100 voucher for meat
    • Other raffle prizes included A box for a night of the Proms at the Albert Hall and a Magnum of Wine
    • House managers were required
    • How the raffle tickets would be sold was to be decided
    • The raffle would be drawn before the evening’s finale
    • A vote of thanks and donation to the Peace Hospice would also be made before the finale
    • The Black Thunder cars would be sited either side of the stage with space provided for branding panels possibly at the front of the stage
    • Graham discussed the cost of the hire of cable and had decided on a company from Luton
    • Four Tents and four gazebos would be borrowed from the Hare Krishnas and sited either side of the stage
    • The scouts would erect their bell tent for the use of performers on Saturday evening and as a tea tent for Sunday
    • Gate holders would give out black sacks and wavy flags


  6. Sunday Fair

    • Sales of tickets and programmes for both days had now started
    • Programme sales rounds not covered at present included Canons Close, Homefield Road, the west side of Newlands Avenue and Battlers Green Drive
    • The Deputy Clerk was asked to write ‘a sorry for any disturbance’ letter and deliver/post to neighbouring properties
    • Manning Gates – Allan and Muriel Beaver would man the Aldenham Avenue entrance with assistance from others.  Radlett & District Round Table would man the main gates at the park entrance
    • Complimentary programmes to be sent to – John Apthorp, Jilllie Johnston and James Clappison MP
    • Sylvia to organise scripts with comperes Simon and Dominic and stage manager Philip
    • The insurance with Zurich needed to be finalised as far as the marquee, tents and gazebos were concerned.  David would liase with the marquee company
    • The Hare Krishna would provide walkie talkies for the sound engineers, stage manager and other relevant people
    • Pavilion refreshments would be provided by way of an urn, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, squash, cups and spoons
    • The Deputy Clerk to give Graham a list of stall holders, also check the size of the Hertsmere Borough Council recycling information trailer.


  7. Date of next meeting

       The next meeting would be held on Thursday 8 June at 7.30pm.
