ALDENHAM PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the meeting of the NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE held at 8pm on Wednesday 20 September 2005 in Meeting Room 2, The Radlett Centre, Aldenham Avenue, Radlett.

  1. Apologies for absence

    All members were present at the meeting.

  2. Declarations of Interest

    There were no declarations of interest.

  3. To approve the Minutes of the meeting held on 20 September 2005

    The Minutes were signed as a true and correct record.

  4. Matters arising from the Minutes of the meeting held on 20 September 2005

    The Chairman and the Deputy Clerk had changed the colour of the front and back covers as the original choice was not appropriate to the contents.

  5. Feedback of the 69th edition

    Philip Eastburn had commented on a very good edition with plenty of news.

    Both Sandra McKenzie and Maureen Taylor had been pleased with the articles and photographs that had been published.

    Following the article ‘Grass Verges' that appeared in News in Brief, a resident from Fairfield Close had sent a copy of the article to the Highways Department to highlight the parking problems in their road.

  6. Complaint to Royal Mail

    It appeared that a box containing 400 copies of Around Radlett had been mislaid by the Royal Mail during their transit from the depot in Rochester to Radlett Sorting Office. Complaints over missing items would not be accepted by the Royal Mail until fifteen working days after the delivery date.

    The matter would be pursued.

  7. Contents for 70th edition

    The following items were put forward for possible inclusion in the 67th edition:

    1. Sponsored Bicycle Ride Raises Thousands with photo (Catholic Church) - already received. Article from Christ Church awaited – FT
    2. The Noise Week with photos – FT to approach Sue Civval
    3. Radlett Centre Programme with event details from the Music Club, Choral Society and Radlett Players, also Café Bar new opening times and brief mention of forthcoming 10 th anniversary in April 2006
    4. Volunteer of the Year Awarded to Rosamund Gray with photo – JA
    5. Tabard Rugby Club – Stephen Burke
    6. Under 9's County Cricket Champions – John Tattersall to be approached
    7. Red House PPP – Gill Balen to approach Rob Reith
    8. Letchmore Heath Village Pond – Photograph and article already received
    9. Scouts – FT/RW
    10. Girlguiding – Article and photograph already received
    11. Platt Awards – Article already received
    12. Trip to Kenya with photo – Chloe Gratton – already received
    13. RAIFA Trip to Lautertal – Article and photograph already received

  8. Advertisements

    The Kaypee advertisement had been cancelled and replaced by Acornley Decorating Services of Bushey.

  9. Items for Hertsmere News

    Articles for Hertsmere News were required by HBC by the end of October. Items that were considered appropriate were the recent works to the pond at Letchmore Heath, VE+60 Celebrations at Aldenham and Trafalgar Weekend.

  10. Contracts for 2007

    In order to give the Carnival 2007 greater publicity it was agreed to alter the contract dates slightly. The dates that would be requested from the Royal Mail were Mondays 5 March, 4 June, 10 September and 26 November 2007.

  11. Possible New Guide

    The meeting was informed that the present Official Guide published in 2000 was now almost out of stock. Following discussion it was agreed, subject to cost and time constraints to publish a new guide for publication in March 2007. The Guide would replace the March 2007 edition of Around Radlett.

    It was agreed to approach Mr Philip Eastburn to ask if would to act as editor of the Guide.

  12. Distribution

    The distribution on the 70th edition would be via the Royal Mail and go out to residents as from week beginning 28 November 2005.

  13. Date of Put Together

    The edition would be Put Together on Thursday 29th September at 7.30pm
